Exercise Books & Stationery Distribution Drive

Community Education Support Initiative

22nd March 2026
Banda Slum, Kampala, Uganda
Team Leader: KANAKULYA CHARLES PETER

Background & Context

Banda is one of Kampala's informal settlements where families face financial barriers to buying school supplies.

Without exercise books, children are unable to write or complete assignments, leading to academic disengagement.

Asili Caring Hand organized a targeted distribution drive at a community space in Banda to provide 96-page A5 exercise books and pencils to children.

Key Objectives

  • To distribute exercise books and pencils to children of school-going age in Banda slum.
  • To reduce the financial burden on low-income urban families.
  • To encourage school attendance and confidence in classroom participation.

Rationale & Justification

Placing a KING exercise book and pencils directly into a child's hands removes an immediate barrier to education and sends a clear message that their education matters.

Activity Description & Field Execution

In March 2026, the Asili Caring Hand team gathered children at a community space in Banda slum.

Distribution Process

A distribution table stocked with KING 96-page A5 exercise books and pencils was set up. Team members handed out books and writing tools to each child in an orderly, celebratory atmosphere.

Key Results & Impact Achieved

Distributed KING A5 exercise books and pencils to all attending children from nursery to upper primary levels.

Equal benefit for both boys and girls across the Banda community.

Lessons Learned & Future Insights

Even small, direct interventions like providing a single exercise book dramatically boost a child's confidence and school readiness.
